Welcome to Bush Farm Collective

Nestled within the heart of Fryent Country Park in Brent, Bush Farm is a hidden gem that invites you to escape the hustle and bustle of city life and reconnect with nature. Our mission is to transform this historic farmstead into a thriving community hub, offering both educational opportunities and a peaceful environment for all to enjoy.

Our Story

Bush Farm has a rich history, once part of a prestigious estate recorded in the Doomsday Book and later becoming a center for equine activities. Since taking over the farm in 2020, Dove, the founder of the Bush Farm Collective (BFC), has worked to establish this land as a community asset. Dove's dream is simple yet powerful: to create a shared space that brings people together, encourages learning, and fosters a deeper connection to nature and our rural heritage.

At Bush Farm, we believe in the power of collaboration. We work closely with local schools, organisations, and volunteers to host a variety of educational workshops and events. From horse care and sustainable farming to wildlife conservation and tree planting, Bush Farm is a place where individuals of all ages can learn, grow, and connect.

Our Mission

The Bush Farm Collective (BFC) is dedicated to offering diverse outdoor spaces and educational programs that enrich the lives of local residents. With our barn and the surrounding grounds, we aim to build an important community resource shaped by the very people who use it. We are committed to offering a screen-free space where families and individuals can come together, unwind, and rediscover their roots.

Supporting Mental Health and Well-Being

At Bush Farm, we understand the importance of mental health and well-being in today’s fast-paced world. We believe that nature and community play a significant role in supporting mental wellness. Whether it's spending time with our horses, engaging in outdoor activities, or simply being surrounded by the peaceful farm environment, we strive to create a space where individuals can disconnect from everyday stresses and focus on their mental health.

Through our 1-2-1 workshops for autistic adults and other tailored programs, we provide safe and supportive environments for personal growth, social interaction, and skill-building. These activities not only empower participants but also foster a sense of belonging and inclusion within the community.

In addition, our community events like family fun days, Makers Markets, and seasonal celebrations offer a chance for individuals to connect with others, share experiences, and enjoy the therapeutic benefits of being outdoors. We are proud to be part of a movement that promotes mental well-being through connection, nature, and education.

What We Do

We offer a range of activities, from hands-on workshops to school trips, seasonal family fun days, and community celebrations. Some of our key initiatives include:

Educational Workshops:

Covering everything from horse maintenance and tree planting to sustainable farming and wildlife conservation, our workshops engage local schools, social clubs, and families.

School Collaborations:

Our popular pony QA school trips serve local nursery and primary schools, including Fryent Primary, Budding Learners Montessori, St. Robert Southwell Primary, Kingsbury Green Primary, and Little Explorers Nursery.

Community Partnerships:

We work with community groups such as Little Eco Warrior School and the charity IDIG TREES to host tree planting events, during which local volunteers have planted over 600 trees.

Inclusive Programs:

Our 1-2-1 workshops for autistic adults focus on skill-building and personal empowerment, helping participants engage in farm activities like stable cleaning and daily chores.

Special Events:

Throughout the year, we host a variety of fun-filled gatherings like our Easter Family Funday, Pony Fun Days, Makers Market, art clubs, and seasonal harvest celebrations. These events are designed to bring the community together to socialize, showcase their talents, and enjoy the peaceful surroundings of Bush Farm.

Live Music & Fundraisers:

We believe in supporting local talent, which is why our events feature live performances by grassroots musicians, many of whom perform for the first time. Our fundraising efforts, such as our Kids on the Green charity event with the London Fire Brigade, also help raise awareness and support for important causes.

We want to develop Bush Farm as a community asset – involving local people and building towards a
shared facility for all to enjoy and learn – a place to connect with nature and our rural past. The variety
of outdoor spaces and the barn have the potential to become an important community resource,
shaped by the people who use it and working in collaboration with local organisations and groups to
deliver a range of new activities.

Bush Farm has held a number of amazing community events so far, from tree planting days, education about horses and schools trips. now it is looking to broaden its range of activities in a number of ways from eco and agricultural workshops, mental health sessions, music and art. Making these accessible to all.

Bush Farm has been granted funding from Brent you decide NCIL in 2022 to go towards a new roof barn, vegetable and sensory garden. Since then we found out the barn is in a much more survier

state and will need full restoration, so the BFC team powered on to raise more funding. In 2025 we secured further funding to make this possible. As part of our redevelopent of the barn we will be

adding a function room that can be used by the public, toilets and kitchenette.

history

Our History
Bush Farm has always been a place for connection to nature and community, but it wasn’t until 2020 that the Bush Farm Collective (BFC) officially formed. With the support of the community, we've held numerous educational workshops, environmental initiatives, and fun family events. Here are some highlights from our journey:
Major Milestones
2022: Awarded funding from Brent You Decide NCIL for the barn roof , along with the creation of a vegetable and sensory garden. Yet after survayors reports we found out alot more work would be needed

2025: Secured £190,000 in additional funding to fully restore the barn and build a multi-functional public space, vegetable and sensory garden, complete with a function room, toilets, and a kitchenette.

2026: Our full re-development plan is set to be completed, opening up more opportunities for the community to engage, create, and learn.

Over the years, we’ve planted over 600 trees, hosted 1,000+ school children, and empowered numerous adults and families through workshops on sustainability, mental health support, and arts.

💥 Special Features of Fryent Country Park’s History:
The Bunker Special: During the Second World War, a bunker was built on the outskirts of the park. Though much of this history has been forgotten, remnants of the structure remain, adding an intriguing layer to the park’s story. This bunker served as a wartime refuge, a place where locals could find safety during air raids.

Horse Racing and Rural Culture: The farm’s long history of horse racing and agricultural significance shows just how deeply entwined Bush Farm and Fryent Country Park are with London’s rural and equine heritage. Over the years, the land has hosted local races and community events, cementing its place as a cherished destination for nature lovers, families, and sports enthusiasts.

The Women's Institute & Bush Farm: The Women’s Institute has had the plesure of coming along for horse matence and bush farm education.
